World trip › Russia & the Trans-Siberian
Russia, Irkutsk
September 25, 2010, 6:16 a.m.: From Irkutsk railway station I headed to my host family, where, after a loooong-awaited shower, I first took a two-hour nap and then went off to explore Irkutsk.
As I turned off Lenin Street into Karl Marx Street and was ambling along, I stopped dead in my tracks:
A „Bierhaus“? In the middle of Siberia? Suddenly someone opened the door for me and ushered me inside. A super modern, spotless restaurant with a first-class atmosphere. Everything was German-themed, but nobody spoke the language… ;) After a tasty meal I was happy to do the waitresses a favour and pose for photos with them – with my own camera too, of course.
The next morning, after a rather meagre breakfast, I headed to the Irkutsk bus station. …To be continued…
