- Sign of Life, Anticipation/Sneak Preview -

· 2 min read · 5 comments

Hi everyone!
It’s been a long time, but here’s a sign of life from me again. :)
What’s happened since Xi’an? LOTS!!! My pace of travel still hasn’t allowed me to do a proper blog update. But in January I’m going to take a few quiet days to sort through all the photos and notes, for myself as well as for you, and put the best pictures online, garnished with my travel stories.

A quick summary in advance:
From China I took the world’s highest railway to Lhasa and crossed Tibet by jeep. From there I went on by minibus across the Nepalese border to Kathmandu. I explored Nepal by car, bus, jeep, van, horse-drawn carriage, motorbike, rickshaw, TukTuk, paraglider, pedal boat, canoe, plane and on foot. Finally I raced towards India on a bus (yes, on the roof). Within India I used the notoriously overcrowded Indian trains to get from Varanasi via Agra and New Delhi down to Chennai in the south. Right now I’m in Mirissa – a tiny town at the very southern tip of Sri Lanka. On 12/19 I’m heading back to India, towards Goa, and later by boat to the Andaman Islands.

Christmas is always a time of anticipation – so here’s a little
selection of keywords from the upcoming travel stories. :)

  • Tibet - between faith and fascination
  • Mount Everest - the highest mountain on earth
  • Kathmandu - a city of many faces
  • Chitwan - elephant football, crocodiles and rhinos in the jungle
  • Parahawking - flying with eagles
  • Lumbini - the birthplace of the Buddha
  • Bhutan - the kingdom with the happiness factor
  • Ganges - life and death side by side
  • Taj Mahal - a wonder of the world in marble
  • Lotus Temple - the fascination of symmetry
  • Worlds End - the end of the world
  • Sri Lanka - so close to paradise

And, in the Christmas spirit, a small request from me:

Yes, a trip like this costs money. Do you enjoy these glimpses into my adventures on the road?
Anyone who’d like to support my journey is warmly invited to become a sponsor.
Whether for Christmas, as a one-off or monthly – I appreciate any support:

So with that,
see you soon + Christmas greetings from the Indian Ocean,

Mathias :)

    Hallo Matthias,
