Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar

· 1 min read

October 3, 2010: When I arrived in Ulaanbaatar, my guide met me (yes, here I actually treated myself to that luxury) and drove me to a nearby hotel for the breakfast buffet. Since I never really know when I’ll get my next meal, I started by stuffing myself to stock up. Along the way I found out that the hotel was in the middle of frantic preparations for a big visit. That evening, Jackie Chan himself was coming to Ulaanbaatar – to the very hotel where I was happily tucking into my food. He was hosting a gala there that night, and on top of that there was some kind of world boxing championship. Still, 500 USD for a ticket was a bit much for a photo with Jackie. So after breakfast we went off to visit the Gandan Monastery.

Afterwards I was driven around town for a bit, past sights such as the „Big Square“. Ulaanbaatar doesn’t seem to have much more to offer in the way of sights…

Finally we set off for Terelj National Park.
